No ticket? No problem

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

OK, so this is the 8th or so post on tickets, but it’s always the biggest source of confusion.  If you have questions about tickets, read the previous post.

IF YOU DON’T HAVE TICKETS, show up anyway!  We have never, ever–not once–turned away anyone who wanted to attend a previous Ignite Boise…never.  A line starts forming outside the Egyptian at around 6:00 or so.  Doors open to the general public at 6:30, and the show starts at 7:00.

Anyway, you’re already going to be next door at the Lobby for some tasty BBQ at @shermtv’s fund raiser/pre-func, right?

Ignite Boise 04 Tickets

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

There are two types of tickets: “early admission” tickets and “speaker/volunteer/sponsor” tickets.

Early Admission Tickets. To get “early admission” tickets you needed request a ticket at this web page a few weeks ago. The 600 “early admission” tickets were all snatched up within a couple hours. If you are one of 600 who requested “early admission” tickets, this post on the blog discusses what you need to do next. If you can’t find your “early admission” ticket email, you may be able to have them resend it to you via: http://www.eventbrite.com/gettickets.

Speaker/Volunteer/Sponsor Tickets. Most of the remaining 150 tickets were set aside for speakers, volunteers, and sponsors. These tickets were distributed to the speakers/volunteers/sponsors already.

If you don’t have an Eventbrite ticket or speaker/vendor/sponsor ticket…you don’t have a ticket.

No Will Call. There is no “will call.” There is no “list.” You will need to show your ticket to get in the door. It is Earth Day…thus, feel free to show an electronic copy of your ticket on your smartphone if you want to “save a tree.”

What If I Forget My Ticket? If you forget…you’ll need to get in the “general admission” line. Sorry.

No Ticket? If you do not have an “early admission” ticket or a sponsor/speaker/volunteer ticket, you will need to wait in line at the door to get a seat. When 6:30 arrives, all tickets are null and void and we’ll open the doors for general admission (until we reach capacity). We don’t know if we’ll reach capacity or not…so the closer to the front of the line you are, the better your odds of getting a seat.

It’s gonna be a great show! See you there.

New Presenter for IB 4: Jessica Holmes

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

We just got a note from Brian Cooke who said that unforeseen circumstances will prevent him from presenting at IB4 (the Dog ate his presentation, or something). But despair not – Jessica Holmes will present instead. Her presentation “Cheep: Live well, cheap” will wow you as follows:

In today’s world, how can you live both well and frugally? Cheep is a concept and a lifestyle that combines creativity and coincidence to help people do more with less. Cheep tips improve your daily life, your environmental impact and your pocketbook. I offer tips in five categories: food, fashion, decor, place and mind. Learn more at http://www.cheeptips.com.

Tickets going fast.

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

We’ve gone through more than 350 early entry tickets in less than a half hour. If you haven’t got yours yet, get them here.

If you’ve already got them, be sure to tell your friends.

Our sponsors rule.

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Ignite Boise is free. As in it doesn’t cost you a dime. The only reason is because of a team of volunteers who do the legwork and sponsors who put up the cash to cover expenses. We can’t do enough to thank them. But we’ll start with giving credit where credit is due and stating it bluntly: supporting our sponsors = supporting Ignite Boise.

Huge thanks to our Ignite Boise | 04 sponsors:

Great Western Barbecue Supply/Traeger Grills is our venue sponsor. These guys are serious about barbecue and can get you outfitted with the best equipment.

Sybase iAnywhere, a provider of mobile enterprise, database and RFID software technologies.

Red Sky Public Relations, a talented Boise-based PR firm with expertise in Economic Development, Tourism/Hospitality, Education, among other things.

Urban Agent Team, best described by their motto: “We’re not your parents’ real estate company.”

Cradlepoint Technologies, secure and truly mobile, mobile technologies.

Idaho TechConnect, helping transform ideas into products and services.

Lisa McGrath, llc Law Firm, internet and media law (and a really nice person).

Nebula Shift, a new software technology lab in downtown Boise.

The Arbiter, Boise State University’s student-run media organization. A big help to us by handling our video production.

rizen creative, an intentionally-small creative firm that work with underdog brands of all sizes doing design, interactive and advertising.

The results are in!

Congratulations to all the speakers and thanks again to everyone who had the guts to submit.  Take a look at the entire speaker list; it’s a pretty killer lineup!  The two that YOU chose were:

It’s raining inside and the taxidermy is talking: this is my job in the theater!

Matthew Cameron Clark

After 15 years as an actor & director in Boise, I have more than enough evidence to prove that my job is one of the strangest jobs anyone could have. You have no idea what goes on in a windowless theater late at night, but I’ll give you a few glimpses into my weird and lovely little world.

French-American Romance

Oescar French

Relocated to Boise from France, I keep experiencing America’s interest for my country. Besides the accent, the last Google ad during the superbowl and clichés  I think there is a deep connection between our two countries and cultures. I would like to share my understandings and revelations regarding the matter at Ignite “Les Bois” 4.

The presentations are in. Now vote.

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

We received bunches of great presentation submissions this go-around. Last Friday was spent sorting, sifting and voting on which would make the right mix for #IB04. We’re done…almost.

The selection committee decided to leave to spaces open for public vote. Those who have already been selected or were eliminated because they were pitches or redundant to other presentations are not included on the ballot. But all others are.

Click here to cast your vote. Update: the deadline has passed and the ballot has been taken down. IB|04 presenters will be announced soon.
