I just want to congratulate all my fellow presenters on a gutsy, fun and thought-provoking show, give thanks and congratulations to the organizers on staging a great event, and thanks to everyone who showed up and got loud and supportive. I had a great time. Sorry to get all mushy. My sentiments about Tallahassee remain unchanged.
Here is the feedback that I collected from 8 first timers that I brought to the event. I love the event no matter what, but I thought it would be helpful to hear from some 1st timers. My only personal beef was that it wasn’t as good as IB1 (i was out of town for IB2), and I was slightly disappointed. Not enough to worry about though.
-Most thought content overall was good, but could have done without a few of the presentations.
-Presentations should be screened a little better to prevent complaint lists that are non solution oriented. Too much, “you should do X” without the explanation of why.
-Audio issues were annoying. People shouting, feedback, volume shifts, etc.
-Not allowing audio as part of the presentations, especially FUNK one is a huge mistake. It was a great presentation, but hearing examples of the groups he was talking about would have been amazing.
-All in all, they each enjoyed it and said that would be back for the next one.
My only complaint for both IG’s I’ve been too is the volume of the presenters. Seems that it needs to be adjusted for each speaker as some talk louder than others. One in my group left cuz it was too loud.
I’ll be back for IG3 with earplugs in my pocket just in case.
Keep up the good work guys! So nice to have events like this in Boise.
Great event. Thanks to all who worked hard to put it on. It’s awesome to see the community that is being built here. I recognized a good handful of people just from twitter…
My one criticism would be to keep the intermission shorter. 5-10 mins should be plenty of time to stretch, use the restroom and grab a snack. The 20-25 min intermission just seemed way too long to wait when you were already engaged in the thought process.
Overall, a great event and I’m really looking forward to 04.
I am probably biased because I was a presenter and worrying more about my presentation than listening to others during part of the show. But, I think the sound was better for this show than the two previous because of the use of omnidirectional mics. I think a possible solution to the volume issue would be a 10-15 minute mic check with the performers before the doors open, although I know that would require the presenters to be there earlier, but I don’t think too many would complain about that. Or a dress rehearsal. I know that that would require a lot more prep because it would probably be done a few days if not a week before the presentation and would then mean that the presenters would have to be chosen a week earlier, it wouldn’t have to be done at the Egyptian, it could be done at the Water Cooler. But those are just my thoughts.
Mostly I think you guys are doing a great job, I enjoyed being involved, and hope to be able to go start an Ignite Houston when I get there.
Great event! Participated for the first time with my husband and 16 year old son. The diversity of presentations offered something for each of us. It would seem like a dress rehearsal might tighten up the presentations but, that would also take away from the “you never know what you’ll get” charm of the event. This will definitely become a family staple!

Keep up the good work IB team.
Loved it, almost as much as IG2.
