Well, the organizers are preparing to gather to discuss what we learned from IB|04. It’s something we do after each event. And as always, we want your input. This feedback is critical to improving future Ignites. (For example, we added the “public vote” of presentations based on feedback from IB|03.)
We realize that IB|04 including some booing/heckling that is totally out of character for Ignites. Not to mention a couple technical glitches that we had never experienced before…We know those issues need to be addressed.
But what else?

Kill all Macs? LOL Obviously, a size limit on decks would help -but you know this already.
The guy who was booed claims that he thought it was ok – but when the heckling kept going… the guy behind was obnoxious (but his date kept smiling at him -yikes! …and LOL)
Most of the best talks were early – I know it’s hard to tell in advance, but you should always close with a BANG.
The only new things i’d add are:
1) the idea of casting your net more broadly for speakers – I’d be happy to contact the Idaho Media Professionals & other groups – they don’t have to be techies or even young-ish. Maybe in October the theme could be “Not the Usual Suspects”. Get some HS kids (if legal) get some senior citizens.. and more “average Joes”.
2) some sort of high-energy intermission event… on one of my trips I saw what I thought was a poetry slam but instead it was a SCIENCE slam. In short order, 5 people had 2-3 minutes to sell the audience of the coolness of their project. 15 minutes, then a vote. (To make it crazier, they would do this impromptu – no slides, just get up there! Let me know if I can tell you more.
Cheers – and THANKS for the blast!

My only suggestion is for all those who can’t make it… I would love to see some better video taken of the event and the speakers. I know this has been an ongoing request, but I tried watching IB4′s videos and you just couldn’t do it because the sound was horrible. Its a pretty simple thing to record the sound straight off the sound board. You might even be able to find someone willing to edit the speakers talks to include the slides in the videos! Anyway, just my 2 cents.
