Ignite Contest — The Rubberband Dragster Race

Ignite Boise | 02 attendees will have a chance to create “Rubberband Dragsters” that are made from reused household items and race them for awesome prizes during the half hour intermission.

Soapbox derby

The Dragsters are based upon this PBS design [pdf].  Assembly time for a car is <20 min, with common ingredients for the cars comprising:  2 CD’s, a kabob skewer, 5″x6″ piece of cardboard, uniform size rubberband, a thread spool, a straw or 2 washers for axle, tape or glue, and your creativity.

David from the Reusuem will provide a craft table and materials to make cars before Ignite Boise | 02 begins.  Note:  Advance production is encouraged because apart from the core ingredients (like having the same size rubberband), innovation is encouraged.
During the intermission we’ll have the contest.  David’s even come up with an number of awards!

Full Kits and instructions will be available for free or donation in advance at the Reuseum in Garden City, (visit reuseum.com for hours and location).

If you’d like additional information regarding the contest, contact David.
