What, exactly, is Ignite Boise?

Ignite Boise is an event that brings together interesting people to share interesting ideas. And they do it with 20 slides in just 5 minutes.

Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Since then, hundreds of 5 minute talks have been given across the world. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Portland, Paris, Baltimore, NYC, and now, Boise.

Ignite Boise is being put together by a handful of local entrepreneurs, geeks and generally creative people looking to contribute to Boise’s culture of ideas. The first event is scheduled for March 19, 2009, though details such as location and speakers are still being worked out.

  1. Sounds pretty fun, I’ll throw it on my calenber and hope to attend. Meanwhile the thinking cap is on….

The first time I have ever heard of this was just a few minutes ago. I log onto msnbc.com first thing every morning and check out the main headlines, then Boise local news, then “more news.” Ignite Boise sounds like so much fun. I wish it had been advertised while it was still going on, rather than when it closed. I hope you do this again next year. It’ll take me that long to get up the courage to drive there and back home. I am afraid to drive out of my comfort zone for some reason.
